Job Description:

Church of the Reconciler seeks a case management professional who can work with our community members on an individual basis in the areas of mental health and addiction recovery resources. Church of the Reconciler is a mission church of the United Methodist Church’s North Alabama Conference and exists to increase community opportunities and access to resources with the poor and unhoused. Often undiagnosed or under-treated mental illness and addiction are barriers that keep our community in poverty. The Case Manager would identify people struggling with mental illness and/or substance abuse and work with them individually to resource them, set goals, and manage their case. Knowledge of the mental health, addiction, housing, and social services of Birmingham is critical. Church of the Reconciler provides an uplifting environment for people in the midst of deep

struggles, so having a positive and welcoming attitude is important for all of our staff.

Applicants must have:

• Bachelor’s of Social Work, a bachelor’s degree in an area of social science, or higher. (Applicants without one of the above qualifications, who have equivalent experience in the field of mental health, case management, or other social service fields will be considered)

• Relational skills with diverse people

• Ability to organize and manage required tasks

• Ability to become familiar with Birmingham community

agencies and their policies and procedures, if not already

• Ability to assess behavioral and psychological problems;

plan/carry out appropriate interventions; resource individuals

to professional care

• Ability to help clients set individualized goals to move

forward and continue a relationship as part of case management duties
